Bandhej or Bandhani is a type of tie and dye textile created by plucking the cloth with the fingernails into many tiny bindings that form a floral or a figurative design. Most Bandhani is done in Gujaart, Rajasthan, Sindh and Tamil Nadu where it is called Sungadi.

Bandhani is also known as Bandhej, Bandhni, Piliya, and Chungidi in Tamil and other regional centres. Bandhani has other related techniques called Mothra, Leheriya, Ekdali and Shikari depending on the style of plucking and tying the cloth. Bandhej is used for making Sarees, Lehengas and Dupatta and in some case home textile also
