Handloom Navy Blue Pure Katan Silk Kimkhab Banarasi Saree With Maroon Selvedge

Sculpted like a picturesque tapestry of an unforgettable and triumphant cultural past, Weaver Story's marvelously customized Navy Blue Saree made with Pure Katan Silk fabric, is the epitome of muliebrity and femininity woven by some of the finest Banarasi artisans of this ethnically affluent nation. The meticulously hand loomed Maroon and crimson red selvedge ties the whole traditional ensemble together, by leaving no thread hanging and providing a stern finishing border to the masterpiece. While the luminosity of the Navy and royal blue color palette of the Saree is exaggerated by the blood red hues of the edges, the minutely constructed golden zari motifs are an emblem of sheer patience and manual skill.

Literally translated to "a little dream", the Persian hand weaving and pattern creating technique of Kimkhab pays an emotional tribute to the architectural glory of our ancestral heritage and rich nationality, placing each floral and leafy motif on a pedestal of high notability. Previously reserved for the reputed members of the royal nobility, the making of Katan Silk involves a lengthy and time consuming process of twisting two or more strands together in order to form a single thread, making this fabric a metaphor for luxury and opulence.

The Weaving Technique

Kinkhwab is a rich, heavy silk fabric with an intricate pattern woven into it. Khinkwab textiles are largely used for ceremonial textiles and the resultant fabric is like woven gold, The weave produces intricate floral designs that appear embroidered on the surface of the fabric. The gold weave is so prominent that it almost covers the base fabric.
