Furthermore, three shuttles are used to weave this one-of-a-kind Kanchipuram silk saree; the weavers sit at the weft ends of the loom, crafting the body and border of this saree separately. These are then attached by the petni method. While the fabric and intricate weaving technique are what make it an heirloom-worthy masterpiece, it is the horizontal zari stripes adorned all over its expanse that steal the limelight. The Weaving Technique

The three shuttle weaving technique used to create contrasts in borders and pallu is known as the Kanjivaram Korvai. Two weavers sit at both weft ends of a loom to throw the shuttle while weaving a korvai saree. A korvai saree is more expensive than a regular single color silk kanjivaram
