Powder Blue Handloom Pure Katan Silk Banarasi Saree With Kadhwa Booti
The subdued tones of this powder blue katan Banarasi saree are enhanced with brilliantly crafted intricate zari work. The subtle blue expanse of the pure silk saree is lavishly decorated with medium-sized floral bootas intricately crafted using delicate gold and silver zari threads. These bootas further feature hints of purple thread work, which adds a touch of elegance. The body of the Banarasi silk saree also adorns tiny silver zari floral bootis.
This powder blue Banarasi saree is thoughtfully handcrafted by expert craftsmen in Banaras to provide you with an appealing, highly durable saree to don on special occasions. The pallu features large gold and silver zari bootas with tiny Meenakari pink and purple floral bootis. The border adorns gold zari work crafted in waves, flowers, and narrow diagonal lines. The blouse piece is adorned with a similar silver zari border with tiny floral bootis throughout its expanse.

The Weaving Technique
Kadhwa stands for 'kadha hua' or 'embroidered'. In Kadhwa weaving, each motif is woven separately as opposed to other Banarasi techniques. Often two weavers weave a kadhwa saree. One weaver is engaged in weaving the cloth or the body of the saree and the second helps in carving out or embroidering each motif using a wooden spool or Tilli as it’s called in Banaras. Using this technique, many different motifs of different sizes, colours and textures can be woven on the same sari, which is quite difficult to do otherwise. A kadhwa saree typically will take a minimum of 12-14 days to complete and go up to 8-9 months also depending on the intricacy of the design. The backside of a kadhwa saree is clean and has almost negligible or zero float or loose threads.
