Purple Handloom Pure Katan Silk Banarasi Saree With Zari Floral Jaal

Banarasi handlooms are most admired by women from all across the world for their unrivalled aesthetic appeal. Not only are these handicrafts extraordinarily beautiful and keep-worthy, but they are also comfortable enough to wear all day long. Banarasi sarees showcase remarkable craftsmanship and art that cannot be easily replicated on other sarees. It is the marvelous artwork and efforts of the expert artisans of the holy city of Banaras that make this handloom truly special.

The comfortable, airy, purple pure katan silk fabric features an intricately crafted floral jaal designed using gold and silver zari. The brilliance of the cutwork weaving technique used in its making exudes from its elegant surface. If you are someone who is not afraid of experimenting with traditional handlooms for modern-day parties, this would be your perfect pick. This Banarasi saree will look exquisitely beautiful when paired with a waist belt or perhaps even a traditional tissue blazer in gold. For those who would like to keep it simple yet supremely elegant, it comes with a purple blouse piece designed in a similar aesthetic to match its elegance.

The Weaving Technique

Phekwa is a weaving style from banaras, where the weft yarn is interlaced in the warp from one end to the other creating textures on the surface of the cloth also called the zamin. This can be done with single silk yarn or resham or zari, or both can be wound around shuttles.
This is one of the most widely used banarasi handloom weaving techniques where the motifs are woven together as opposed to kadhwa saress, thus taking lesser time in completing a saree. This weaving style leaves a large proportion of the silk or zari thread at the back of the saree where there is no motif at the front. These threads at the back are then cut, once the saree is complete. Mostly the ladies of the house help in cutting and cleaning this extra float
