Maroon Handloom Organza Saree with Vintage Meenakari Shikargah Zari Border

This handloom organza saree from The Heirloom Vault in a rich maroon is defined by contrast — a restrained body paired with a border that carries intricate narrative detail.

The pure silk organza base is kept plain, creating a subtle interplay of texture and luminosity as the fabric moves. The maroon holds a quiet depth, appearing fluid and light while maintaining structure — a quality inherent to fine handloom weaves.

The highlight of the saree lies in its border — a rare, over 40-year-old vintage Banarasi zari border, featuring a detailed Shikargah motif with meenakari accents. The pattern unfolds as a woven scene, with stylised flora and layered detailing rendered through fine zari work. Subtle meenakari highlights introduce muted colour, adding depth while retaining the antique character of the piece.

The zari carries a softened, burnished finish rather than a high shine, giving the motifs a time-worn quality. The composition feels preserved rather than newly made, grounding the saree in craft and continuity.

The interplay of maroon with antique gold and silver tones feels timeless, elevated by the provenance of the vintage weave. Each saree from The heirloom vault — Limited Edition Vintage Zari Sarees is built around such preserved borders, making every piece entirely unique.

Designed without a blouse, this saree offers versatility across occasions and personal styling.

Single piece. No repeats.
