White Handloom Pure Katan Silk Banarasi Lehenga With Red Kadhwa Meenakari

The White Handloom Pure Katan Silk Banarasi Lehenga adorned with Red Kadhwa Meenakari is a stunning embodiment of traditional elegance fused with modern aesthetics. The pure Katan silk fabric offers a sumptuous feel, and the red Meenakari work brings vibrant contrasts with intricate floral motifs and geometric patterns that pop across the off-white backdrop.

The gold zari detailing interspersed with red Meenakari enhances the rich textures, creating a regal and festive appearance. This ensemble includes a blouse piece and lehenga panels with a designed border, making it ideal for weddings and ceremonial occasions. Complement this lehenga with gold jewellery to accentuate its grandeur.

This lehenga has 18 kali with length 106.6 cm and can fit up to 91.4 cm waist. The panels which are sufficient for around 5.31 m ghera or circumference at the bottom. The lehenga also has 10.35 m border that can be used for the Dupatta and a Heavy Brocade Blouse piece.

The Weaving Technique

Kadhwa stands for 'kadha hua' or 'embroidered'. In Kadhwa weaving, each motif is woven separately as opposed to other Banarasi techniques. Often two weavers weave a kadhwa saree. One weaver is engaged in weaving the cloth or the body of the saree and the second helps in carving out or embroidering each motif using a wooden spool or Tilli as it’s called in Banaras. Using this technique, many different motifs of different sizes, colours and textures can be woven on the same sari, which is quite difficult to do otherwise. A kadhwa saree typically will take a minimum of 12-14 days to complete and go up to 8-9 months also depending on the intricacy of the design. The backside of a kadhwa saree is clean and has almost negligible or zero float or loose threads.
