This distinguished peacock blue pure silk saree is an outcome of the brilliant craftsmanship of the master artisans of Banaras. They employed the age-old Kadhwa weaving technique to create this lightweight, highly durable peacock blue katan Banarasi saree. The entire expanse of the saree is lavishly decorated with vertical silver zari stripes along with silver zari floral bootas featuring hints of red Meenakari work. The pallu of the katan saree features chokdi patterns crafted in silver zari, lending an illuminating look to it. The border adorns silver zari floral designs with hints of red and green Meenakari work. The peacock blue blouse piece it comes with features silver zari parallel lines along with a border identical to the saree for a complete look.

The Weaving Technique
Kadhwa stands for 'kadha hua' or 'embroidered'. In Kadhwa weaving, each motif is woven separately as opposed to other Banarasi techniques. Often two weavers weave a kadhwa saree. One weaver is engaged in weaving the cloth or the body of the saree and the second helps in carving out or embroidering each motif using a wooden spool or Tilli as it’s called in Banaras. Using this technique, many different motifs of different sizes, colours and textures can be woven on the same sari, which is quite difficult to do otherwise. A kadhwa saree typically will take a minimum of 12-14 days to complete and go up to 8-9 months also depending on the intricacy of the design. The backside of a kadhwa saree is clean and has almost negligible or zero float or loose threads.
