Details
Black Handloom Dupion Silk Chanderi Saree with Organza Pallu. The handloom chanderi saree is accentuated with a green border woven in pure silk.
Part of our initiative to make weaving more inclusive this small collective of plain sarees with organza pallus is woven by women weavers. A team of three young girls is now working with us to make this project successful. Women Weavers and Weaver Story a new story in the making.
Project Sahej is led by Saida, Nooreen and Saba in Ashok Nagar District Chanderi. What started as a concept during the pandemic led us to explore and meet progressive families who allowed us to connect and train these young girls. This is a small but significant step in making them financially independent. The sarees are simple as this is the first attempt but a very significant one. Half the saree is woven in Dupion Silk and the part from pleats to pallu is in Kora or Organza giving them a very delicate appeal.
These Sarees are a true representation of the fact that sarees are the Fabric of India. This delicately woven Chanderi Saree is a beautiful example of fine craftsmanship woven in a modern color palette.
