Mrigakshi — Pink Handloom Real Zari Kadhwa Banarasi Shikargah Saree in Pure Katan Silk

Among the most intricate forms of Banarasi weaving, the Shikargah weave carries stories within its structure. Woven entirely by hand in pure Katan silk, this saree revives the historic hunting-scene compositions once created for royal ateliers, where forests, flowering vines, elephants, and tigers emerge gradually across the fabric in a continuous jaal formation.

Executed in the traditional Kadhwa technique, every motif is individually woven into the silk rather than embroidered or surface-finished later. This highly specialised process creates a weave that is remarkably detailed, structurally refined, and reversible, with no loose floats at the back. The density of the weave and the precision of each motif reflect the time-intensive nature of authentic Banarasi handloom craftsmanship.

Pure zari, made using genuine silver threads finished with gold coating, runs throughout the jaal, borders, and pallu, lending the saree its quiet depth, weight, and luminous surface. The richness here comes not from excess, but from the integrity of the materials and the mastery of the weave itself.

The broad border and elaborately woven pallu frame the saree with balance and grandeur while preserving the fluidity of the drape. Intended for significant occasions and meaningful heirlooms, this is a rare textile woven for collectors of true Banarasi artistry.
