There is nothing more alluring you can wear to a wedding than this handloom navy blue pure katan silk banarasi lehenga. The silk lehenga is a work of art brought to life by the brilliance of the artistry of expert craftsmen in Banaras. They employed the age-old cutwork weaving technique to craft this breathtaking unstitched lehenga. The elegance of the navy blue katan banarasi kalidar lehenga panels is accentuated with vine motifs and floral boota intricately crafted using delicate gold zari threads. The naturalistic beauty of the lehenga is further enhanced with red Meenakari work ornamented amidst the floral design.

The lehenga’s border features gold floral jaals, adding a touch of royalty to its appearance. This silk lehenga comes with an unstitched navy-blue blouse. It also comes with a border you can add to your dupatta or blouse. It features gold floral jaals with red meenakari to match the lehenga’s appeal.

This lehenga has 18 kali with length 1.03 m and can fit up to 91.4 cm waist. The panels which are sufficient for around 6.72 m ghera or circumference at the bottom. The lehenga also has 10.35 m border that can be used for the Dupatta and a Heavy Brocade Blouse piece.

The Weaving Technique

Phekwa is a weaving style from banaras, where the weft yarn is interlaced in the warp from one end to the other creating textures on the surface of the cloth also called the zamin. This can be done with single silk yarn or resham or zari, or both can be wound around shuttles.
This is one of the most widely used banarasi handloom weaving techniques where the motifs are woven together as opposed to kadhwa saress, thus taking lesser time in completing a saree. This weaving style leaves a large proportion of the silk or zari thread at the back of the saree where there is no motif at the front. These threads at the back are then cut, once the saree is complete. Mostly the ladies of the house help in cutting and cleaning this extra float
