Red Handloom Pure Cotton Jamdami Banarasi Real Zari Saree With Yellow Selvedge

An ode to timeless craftsmanship, this red handloom Banarasi saree beautifully brings together the intricacy of Jamdani weaving and the richness of real zari. Crafted in pure cotton, it carries the signature lightness and texture of handwoven Jamdani, a technique where motifs are meticulously inserted into the fabric using extra weft threads, creating patterns that seem to float on the surface. Each motif is added by hand, making every saree a unique work of art.

The body of the saree is adorned with delicate floral vine motifs, symbolising growth, beauty, and continuity. The ambi motifs- the classic paisley design, grace the border and pallu, adding a touch of traditional grandeur. These motifs have been cherished across centuries, often representing fertility, eternity, and grace in Indian textile art.

Finished with a striking yellow selvedge, the saree carries a vivid contrast that enhances its character and authenticity. Its breathable cotton base makes it ideal for warm celebrations, while the zari work adds a quiet shimmer perfect for festive and ceremonial occasions.

An heirloom-worthy piece, this Jamdani Banarasi saree is a reminder of India’s enduring handloom legacy- crafted with patience, precision, and artistry that transcends time.

The Weaving Technique

The Jamdani weaving technique is the most refined weaving technique and is often referred to as the mother of all weaves. The word Jamdani is derived from the Persian word – ‘jam' meaning flower, and ‘dani' a vase.
Made from a gossamer pure cotton yarn, a jamdani is so light that it's often referred to as thin air and it can move with the lightest breeze. The Jamdani from Banaras was mostly done on cotton but with changing times we also see jamdani on katan and kora silk. In banaras we often use Ektara technique to weave pure silver and gold zari in fine cotton and silks. The jamdani is truly a saree connoisseur's delight and an heirloom that deserves much respect for the sheer effort that went into weaving each masterpiece
