Handloom Pink Pure Moonga Silk Banarasi Fabric

Introducing the extremely regal and astonishing Moonga Silk fabric, birthed in the religious city of Varanasi, and hand loomed with the Meena Booti interlacing of pure gold and utter devotion by one and only Weaver Story! Ornamented with the streaks of floral motifs of meena booti and enriched with the golden clusters of vine-like pattern all over the surface, this fabric looks like a pink field of refinement with rows of blonde flowers planted on them with sheer elegance and rare artistry. The subtle contracts of magenta pink blends itself in the rani red silhouettes of the ensemble, generating a sense of traditional modesty among the admirers while still inventing the forwardness of the design.

Taking inspiration from the Assamese technique of hand weaving Moonga Silk fabric, one of the purest forms of Silk around the globe, our Banarasi artisans bring to you a marriage between the different cultures of our ethnically rich land. The ravishing Meena Booti motifs, with a tinge of dark green in the middle, add to the calming vibe of the clutter-free aesthetic nature of the ensemble, while also maintaining a subtle uniformity of the design. The drapes of this material are so breathable and flimsy, making this fabric a complete combo for a chic and classy family event during this summer.

The Weaving Technique

Phekwa is a weaving style from banaras, where the weft yarn is interlaced in the warp from one end to the other creating textures on the surface of the cloth also called the zamin. This can be done with single silk yarn or resham or zari, or both can be wound around shuttles.
This is one of the most widely used banarasi handloom weaving techniques where the motifs are woven together as opposed to kadhwa saress, thus taking lesser time in completing a saree. This weaving style leaves a large proportion of the silk or zari thread at the back of the saree where there is no motif at the front. These threads at the back are then cut, once the saree is complete. Mostly the ladies of the house help in cutting and cleaning this extra float
