Ice Blue Handloom Pure Katan Silk Banarasi Kadhwa Saree With Meenakri Nandi Motifs And Peacock Motif Boder

Handcrafted in pure Katan silk, this ice blue Banarasi saree pairs soothing colour with intricate storytelling. Across the body, delicate Kadhwa-woven Nandi motifs appear, touched with hints of Meenakari detailing that add soft glimmers of colour. The Nandi, revered as the divine guardian and symbol of devotion, strength, and faith, lends the saree a spiritual undertone that feels both grounding and graceful.

The border, adorned with elegant peacock motifs, brings a touch of regality and balance, the peacock, long associated with beauty, pride, and renewal, perfectly complementing the calm expanse of blue silk. Every motif is woven using the Kadhwa technique, where each design is individually handpicked and woven on the loom, ensuring clarity, precision, and a beautifully raised texture that reflects true Banarasi mastery.

The gentle lustre of the silk and the soothing palette make this drape ideal for wedding rituals, temple ceremonies, or serene festive gatherings. It comes with a matching blouse piece, giving you the freedom to style it in understated elegance or accent it with statement jewellery.

The Weaving Technique

Kadhwa stands for 'kadha hua' or 'embroidered'. In Kadhwa weaving, each motif is woven separately as opposed to other Banarasi techniques. Often two weavers weave a kadhwa saree. One weaver is engaged in weaving the cloth or the body of the saree and the second helps in carving out or embroidering each motif using a wooden spool or Tilli as it’s called in Banaras. Using this technique, many different motifs of different sizes, colours and textures can be woven on the same sari, which is quite difficult to do otherwise. A kadhwa saree typically will take a minimum of 12-14 days to complete and go up to 8-9 months also depending on the intricacy of the design. The backside of a kadhwa saree is clean and has almost negligible or zero float or loose threads.
