Gold Handloom Pure Katan Tissue Silk Banarasi Dupatta with Gold Zari and Resham Floral Jaal

A gold tissue dupatta can lift an outfit without taking it over. This Gold Handloom Pure Katan Tissue Dupatta does exactly that, bringing together the soft shimmer of gold zari and the delicacy of an all-over floral jaal. The muted golden tones lend it a sense of occasion, while the subtle interplay of resham and zari ensures that the detailing remains graceful rather than overwhelming.

Handwoven in the Banaras weaving cluster, the dupatta features an elaborate floral jaal extending across the body. Blooming flowers, delicate buds and intertwining foliage are rendered in gold zari and light-toned resham, creating a layered composition that appears to merge with the luminous tissue ground. The Cutwork weaving technique allows these intricate motifs to be formed using supplementary weft threads, with the unused floats carefully trimmed from the reverse after weaving.

A broad gold zari border frames the floral composition, with fine geometric detailing lending structure to the design. The delicate golden tassels along the edges complete the dupatta with a traditional finish.

Rooted in Banarasi craftsmanship yet versatile in its appeal, this dupatta is a beautiful addition to a wardrobe that appreciates understated elegance and timeless handloom artistry.

Styling Tip: Pair this dupatta with an ivory Chanderi silk kurta set for a graceful tonal look, or introduce contrast with a deep emerald green silk suit. Pearl or kundan jewellery will complement its golden lustre, making it particularly suitable for daytime weddings, festive gatherings and traditional ceremonies.

The Weaving Technique

Phekwa is a weaving style from banaras, where the weft yarn is interlaced in the warp from one end to the other creating textures on the surface of the cloth also called the zamin. This can be done with single silk yarn or resham or zari, or both can be wound around shuttles.
This is one of the most widely used banarasi handloom weaving techniques where the motifs are woven together as opposed to kadhwa saress, thus taking lesser time in completing a saree. This weaving style leaves a large proportion of the silk or zari thread at the back of the saree where there is no motif at the front. These threads at the back are then cut, once the saree is complete. Mostly the ladies of the house help in cutting and cleaning this extra float
