Handloom Parrot Green Pure Satin Shikargah Tanchoi Banarasi Saree With Turquoise Meenakari
A celebration of artistry and heritage, this WeaverStory’s Handloom Parrot Green Pure Satin Silk Tanchoi Banarasi Saree is a vision in opulence. Woven from luxurious satin silk, the saree features the intricate Tanchoi weave, renowned for its fine texture and pattern-rich elegance.
What truly sets this piece apart are the Turquoise Meenakari Shikargah motifs—a captivating narrative of royal hunts and forest life, brought to life through the age-old Shikargah tradition. Highlighted in vibrant turquoise meenakari, these motifs contrast the lush parrot green base with a rare and regal contrast. The drape makes a perfect pick for festive occasions, weddings, or heirloom collections. A timeless treasure woven with precision, culture, and soul, it’s a must-have in your wardrobe.

The Weaving Technique
Tanchois are a very fine weave banarasi sarees that use an extra weft thread to create delicate patterns. Tanchoi weaving is one of the complex and technical weaving techniques as it uses one or two warp and two to five weft colors. These sarees are extremely light weight and soft to drape. Jamawar & Tanchois are both satin weave techniques where the motifs are created using the primary weft yarn itself creating an inlaid or embossed look, unlike a brocade, which uses extra warp or weft to create the patterns.
Technically we use the word Jamawar or Jamewar when the motifs feature more than one color, while Tanchois usually have one single color motif or pattern. Jamawars also seem to have a lot of persian influence and are majorly dominated with paisleys in the design pattern
The Design Technique
In the word "Shikargah" , "Shikar" means hunting and "Gah" means place.
The Shikargah we see today has also evolved with time and tradition. From depicting the typical Lion and Deer hunt to showing King on an elephant and the Jungle birds. We also see some bit of british influence in designs in the later part of the18th century with British Soldiers wearing the typical peak cap also shown as a part of the hunting scene. Shikargah can be woven in different weaving Techniques like a Kadhwa or a meenadar or in Kimkhab and Tanchoi.
