Handloom Pastel Purple Pure Katan Silk Kimkhab Banarasi Fabric With 3 Color Resham Work

If there is anything truly enticing about the Indian handloom industry, it is the intricate weaving techniques used in the making of impressive handicrafts. One such weaving technique is Tanchoi, wherein the expert weavers use two to five weft colors with one or two warp threads to create a silken masterpiece of delicate patterns. This light purple fabric is an epitome of elegance, crafted by hand by the expert craftsmen of Banaras using the Tanchoi weaving technique. The delicate sprays of floral designs along with the impressive scatter of paisley motifs create an unrivalled charm over the fabric. The Banarasi craftsmen have used three colors of Resham work to create this Tanchoi masterpiece, making it an ideal choice for designing a bewitching Banarasi saree.

The Weaving Technique

Tanchois are a very fine weave banarasi sarees that use an extra weft thread to create delicate patterns. Tanchoi weaving is one of the complex and technical weaving techniques as it uses one or two warp and two to five weft colors. These sarees are extremely light weight and soft to drape. Jamawar & Tanchois are both satin weave techniques where the motifs are created using the primary weft yarn itself creating an inlaid or embossed look, unlike a brocade, which uses extra warp or weft to create the patterns.
Technically we use the word Jamawar or Jamewar when the motifs feature more than one color, while Tanchois usually have one single color motif or pattern. Jamawars also seem to have a lot of persian influence and are majorly dominated with paisleys in the design pattern
