Handloom Red Pure Katan Silk Banarasi Saree With Meena Booti

Personifying the celestial embodiment of a rather vintage ensemble, Weaver Story’s sultry and divine Katan Silk Saree of Magenta and hot pink color scheme, is curated on the holistic banks of river Ganges and adorned with a cluster free and unblemished web of paramount Meenakari booti interlacing. Drenched with the superior and handsomely abundant ornaments of impenetrable Meena motifs, the Saree is gorgeously surrounded by the density of pious gold zari interlacing in the form of detailed flowers and miniature feminine patterns. The symmetrical presence of this geometrical sublimity accentuates the ingenuity of the ancient art work, performed by the skilled and experienced hands of the native artisans of our homeland, paying a metaphorical homage to our cultural heritage and historical triumph.

Katan is a thread, prepared by twisting a different number of silk filaments according to requirement; this gives a firm structure to the background fabric while also contributing to the ethnic ensemble’s immovable reputation and social status as a masterpiece. The feminine hues of plum and fuchsia display a significant metamorphosis of emotional and intelligent maturity among the brides, reenacting a theatrical catharsis of some intimate emotions in the name of traditional apparels.

The Weaving Technique

Kadhwa stands for 'kadha hua' or 'embroidered'. In Kadhwa weaving, each motif is woven separately as opposed to other Banarasi techniques. Often two weavers weave a kadhwa saree. One weaver is engaged in weaving the cloth or the body of the saree and the second helps in carving out or embroidering each motif using a wooden spool or Tilli as it’s called in Banaras. Using this technique, many different motifs of different sizes, colours and textures can be woven on the same sari, which is quite difficult to do otherwise. A kadhwa saree typically will take a minimum of 12-14 days to complete and go up to 8-9 months also depending on the intricacy of the design. The backside of a kadhwa saree is clean and has almost negligible or zero float or loose threads.
