Handloom Red Pure Katan Silk Pure Katan Silk Cutwork Banarasi Fabric With Leaf Booti

Weaver Story's modest and eye-catching blood red fabric, hand loomed using the Banarasi Cutwork techniques of leafy zari motifs of authentic gold alloy, is a heroically audacious addition to our wide range of collection of Katan Silk ware, making itself an quintessential part of the bride's ethnic trousseau. The traditional crimson color palette of the ensemble brings out the cultural significance of our native artisans' rich heritage and their heartily hard work that has been put into the hand weaving of this fabric.

Studded with the Cutwork motifs of minimalistic leaf patterns, the world wide famous method of this booti interlacing involves cutting and sewing each pattern separately with utmost devotion, unlike the modern day machine oriented mass production. Hence, each and every filament of this material radiates love and respect for the ancient art of hand crafting as well as the long forgotten Mughlai architecture. The Banarasi Katan Silk used in the making of this fabric involves twisting two or more streaks together in order to create a single silk thread, which clearly shows the dedication of the makers and the strength of this dense attire.

The Weaving Technique

Phekwa is a weaving style from banaras, where the weft yarn is interlaced in the warp from one end to the other creating textures on the surface of the cloth also called the zamin. This can be done with single silk yarn or resham or zari, or both can be wound around shuttles.
This is one of the most widely used banarasi handloom weaving techniques where the motifs are woven together as opposed to kadhwa saress, thus taking lesser time in completing a saree. This weaving style leaves a large proportion of the silk or zari thread at the back of the saree where there is no motif at the front. These threads at the back are then cut, once the saree is complete. Mostly the ladies of the house help in cutting and cleaning this extra float
