Lemon Pure Katan Silk Banarasi Tanchoi Saree With Sona Rupa Zari Border

There is an understated opulence to this saree that reveals itself through the weave. The pale lemon Katan silk covered in fine diagonal Tanchoi lines, creates a textured surface that catches the light almost like ripples across silk. Against this soft ground, the Sona Rupa zari border makes a striking departure, alternating gold and silver zari in broad geometric bands that give the saree its distinctly contemporary character.

Handwoven in Banaras, the Lemon Handloom Pure Katan Silk Banarasi Tanchoi Saree carries the smoothness and natural lustre characteristic of Katan silk. The Tanchoi weave lends depth to the otherwise restrained body, while still allowing the fabric to fall into fluid, well-defined pleats. As the saree moves, its lemon ground, fine zari and woven texture shift gently with the light.

The palla brings another layer of detail, moving from the bold Sona Rupa bands into finely woven floral panels. It is an unusual meeting of geometry and traditional Banarasi ornamentation, handled with the restraint of an experienced karigar. Elegant without feeling overtly ceremonial, this is a saree for daytime weddings, festive lunches and intimate celebrations.

Styling Tip: Pair it with an emerald or bottle-green silk blouse and polki jewellery to give the pale lemon and dual-toned zari a deeper festive contrast.

The Weaving Technique

Tanchois are a very fine weave banarasi sarees that use an extra weft thread to create delicate patterns. Tanchoi weaving is one of the complex and technical weaving techniques as it uses one or two warp and two to five weft colors. These sarees are extremely light weight and soft to drape. Jamawar & Tanchois are both satin weave techniques where the motifs are created using the primary weft yarn itself creating an inlaid or embossed look, unlike a brocade, which uses extra warp or weft to create the patterns.
Technically we use the word Jamawar or Jamewar when the motifs feature more than one color, while Tanchois usually have one single color motif or pattern. Jamawars also seem to have a lot of persian influence and are majorly dominated with paisleys in the design pattern
