Lemon Yellow Handloom Chanderi Madhubani Parrot Saree – Pre Order

Soft lemon yellow Chanderi glows beneath pairs of hand-painted green parrots in this handloom saree from WeaverStory. The warm undertone of the fabric lends richness to the green and red painting, creating a drape that feels luminous and beautifully composed. Small floral motifs dot the body, leaving the intricate border and pallu to command attention.

Paired parrots form a graceful procession across the broad border, framing the shoulder and hem. Their feathers are filled with delicate patterns, each drawn with the fine precision of a bamboo pen. Red floral accents brighten the composition, while the open yellow body gives the artwork room to be appreciated.

The pallu brings this detail into a fuller expression. Rows of paired parrots surround three elaborate circular bird panels, framed by successive bands of finely painted ornament. Green, red, orange and blue create a measured richness, with repeated lines and tiny patterns revealing the skill behind the painting. Unfolded, the pallu has the presence of an artwork; worn, it lends depth and distinction to the saree.

The paired birds suggest companionship, giving the piece a gentle story of togetherness. This affectionate quality, expressed through Madhubani’s language of nature, complements the warmth of the lemon yellow and makes the saree a thoughtful choice for family celebrations.

Woven on a handloom, the saree is then painted with a bamboo pen by women from a self-help group led by a National Award-winning artisan in Madhubani district, Bihar. Within this cottage industry, the women practise their craft alongside household and family responsibilities, bringing individual care to every piece.

Approximately 110 hours of handloom weaving and hand painting, spread over 22–25 days, go into each saree. The result is an art piece to wear and cherish, distinguished by its radiant colour and intricate workmanship.
