Details

Lemon Yellow Pure Katan Silk Kimkhab Banarasi Saree

At first glance, this saree appears almost dipped in gold. Look closer, and the lemon yellow of the Katan silk begins to reveal itself beneath the dense shimmer of the Kimkhab weave. The Lemon Yellow Handloom Pure Katan Silk Kimkhab Banarasi Saree carries zari extensively through its body, creating a surface that changes beautifully with the light. Larger floral forms appear intermittently across the drape, some touched with muted Meena hues that gently interrupt the expanse of gold.

The beauty of Kimkhab lies in how completely the ornamentation belongs to the textile itself. Here, the dense zari weaving gives the Katan silk a substantial, lustrous character, yet the saree retains the clean fall and defined pleats expected of pure silk. A finely patterned zari border frames the body, while the palla builds upon the richness with closely woven geometric and floral detailing.

There is an unmistakably ceremonial quality to the saree, reminiscent of Banarasi silks brought out for the most significant occasions and then carefully returned to the wardrobe. It is particularly suited to wedding rituals, festive pujas and daytime celebrations where its yellow-gold palette comes alive beautifully in natural light.

Styling Tip: Pair it with a deep emerald blouse, as pictured, and traditional polki or jadau jewellery. For a more tonal look, choose an antique-gold blouse and let the Kimkhab weave remain the focus.

The Weaving Technique

Kinkhwab is a rich, heavy silk fabric with an intricate pattern woven into it. Khinkwab textiles are largely used for ceremonial textiles and the resultant fabric is like woven gold, The weave produces intricate floral designs that appear embroidered on the surface of the fabric. The gold weave is so prominent that it almost covers the base fabric.
