Mauve Handloom Chanderi Madhubani Tree of Life Saree – Pre Order

Village women worshipping the Tree of Life adorn the pallu of this mauve handloom Chanderi saree from WeaverStory. Hand-painted in the Madhubani tradition, the scene depicts women with raised hands and bowls of offerings beneath branches filled with flowers, leaves and birds. Small flowers scattered across the soft, pink-toned mauve body echo the painting.

The women’s colourful sarees, jewellery and gestures are carefully drawn with a bamboo pen. Fine lines fill their clothing and trace the tree’s spreading branches, bringing detail to a story of devotion, community and respect for nature. The Tree of Life represents nourishment, shelter and renewal, giving the artwork its central meaning.

Women from a self-help group led by a National Award-winning artisan in Madhubani district, Bihar, weave the saree on a handloom and then paint it. Within this cottage industry, the artisans practice their craft alongside household and family responsibilities.

Each saree takes approximately 22–25 days to create, involving around 110 hours of handloom weaving and hand painting. Their patient work transforms Chanderi into an art piece to wear and cherish.
