Neel Gul Gold Plated Pure Silver Floral Meenakari Brooch
A single flower, captured in full bloom, forms the centre of the Neel Gul Brooch. Its vivid blue petals and sweeping, stone-studded stem give the piece an artistic quality, bringing the beauty of nature into the world of handcrafted statement jewellery.
Created in Jaipur from gold-plated pure silver, the brooch features a five-petalled flower detailed with Meenakari in graduating shades of turquoise and deep blue. A white, uncut-style stone marks its centre, surrounded by smaller accents that lend depth to the floral composition. Below, a curved stem branches into delicate buds, each set with irregularly shaped white stones. Fine stone detailing follows the sweeping outline, while touches of blue enamel connect the different elements of the design.
The reverse reveals further enamel work, a testament to the attention given to the piece beyond its visible surface. Drawing from Jaipur's traditions of enamel artistry and ornamental jewellery, the Neel Gul Brooch offers a distinctive interpretation of floral craftsmanship.
Name Rationale:
Neel means blue, while Gul refers to a flower. The name draws inspiration from the brooch's prominent blue enamelled blossom and its gracefully curved, flowering stem. Short and evocative, it reflects the piece's botanical character without being overly traditional.
Styling Tip: Pin the Neel Gul Brooch to the lapel of an ivory blazer or a structured silk jacket for a contemporary interpretation of traditional jewellery. It can also be worn on the shoulder of a plain saree blouse, allowing its blue enamel and sculptural form to stand out.
