Luminous in a warm gold tone, this handloom Kora tissue dupatta brings together the delicacy of Jamdani with the quiet richness of Banarasi weaving. Its light, crisp drape allows the intricate surface to catch the light without feeling heavy.

The cutwork Jamdani is arranged in a finely woven geometric composition, with subtle changes in scale lending depth and rhythm to the gold surface. Detailed borders frame the weave, while a broad, more open end section offers a considered contrast. A narrow lemon-toned edging completes the piece.

Refined in texture and restrained in colour, this dupatta is suited to weddings, festive celebrations and bridal trousseaus.

The Weaving Technique

Phekwa is a weaving style from banaras, where the weft yarn is interlaced in the warp from one end to the other creating textures on the surface of the cloth also called the zamin. This can be done with single silk yarn or resham or zari, or both can be wound around shuttles.
This is one of the most widely used banarasi handloom weaving techniques where the motifs are woven together as opposed to kadhwa saress, thus taking lesser time in completing a saree. This weaving style leaves a large proportion of the silk or zari thread at the back of the saree where there is no motif at the front. These threads at the back are then cut, once the saree is complete. Mostly the ladies of the house help in cutting and cleaning this extra float
