Details

Rich in colour and craftsmanship, this hot pink Khaddi georgette dupatta brings together the precision of Banarasi weaving, the organic character of Bandhej and the dimension of hand embroidery. Its fluid drape and intricate surface make it a distinguished choice for bridal and festive wardrobes.

The body features a rhythmic lattice woven using the cutwork technique, interspersed with traditional Bandhej dots in contrasting shades. A broad palla introduces rows of ornate paisley motifs, framed by densely worked floral borders. Hand-embroidered zardozi highlights enhance the woven design with metallic threadwork and sequins, bringing depth and brilliance to the composition.

A handcrafted knotted fringe with alternating hot pink and metallic tassels completes the dupatta. Designed to hold its own as the focal point of an ensemble, this is a richly detailed piece for weddings, bridal trousseaus and significant festive occasions.

Styling Note: Pair it with an ivory or antique-gold lehenga to foreground the craftsmanship, or style it with tonal hot pink separates for a striking bridal look.

The Weaving Technique

Phekwa is a weaving style from banaras, where the weft yarn is interlaced in the warp from one end to the other creating textures on the surface of the cloth also called the zamin. This can be done with single silk yarn or resham or zari, or both can be wound around shuttles.
This is one of the most widely used banarasi handloom weaving techniques where the motifs are woven together as opposed to kadhwa saress, thus taking lesser time in completing a saree. This weaving style leaves a large proportion of the silk or zari thread at the back of the saree where there is no motif at the front. These threads at the back are then cut, once the saree is complete. Mostly the ladies of the house help in cutting and cleaning this extra float
