Details

Rich in colour and layered craftsmanship, this red Khaddi georgette dupatta combines Banarasi cutwork weaving, traditional Bandhej and intricate hand-embroidered highlights. Its fluid drape and richly detailed surface give it a ceremonial presence suited to bridal and festive wardrobes.

The body features alternating chevron and floral patterns, interspersed with fine Bandhej dots that introduce texture and variation across the vivid red ground. Broad floral borders frame the composition, while the palla is distinguished by rows of circular medallions set against a delicate dotted ground.

Hand-embroidered zardozi highlights add dimension and lustre to the woven details. A knotted fringe finished with alternating red and metallic tassels completes the dupatta, lending graceful movement to the drape.

Designed for wedding ceremonies, festive celebrations, bridal trousseaus and heirloom wardrobes.

Styling Note: Pair it with an ivory or antique-gold lehenga to foreground the intricate craftsmanship, or style it with tonal red separates for a traditional bridal look.

The Weaving Technique

Phekwa is a weaving style from banaras, where the weft yarn is interlaced in the warp from one end to the other creating textures on the surface of the cloth also called the zamin. This can be done with single silk yarn or resham or zari, or both can be wound around shuttles.
This is one of the most widely used banarasi handloom weaving techniques where the motifs are woven together as opposed to kadhwa saress, thus taking lesser time in completing a saree. This weaving style leaves a large proportion of the silk or zari thread at the back of the saree where there is no motif at the front. These threads at the back are then cut, once the saree is complete. Mostly the ladies of the house help in cutting and cleaning this extra float
