The body is deliberately left plain, allowing the saturated magenta and the translucence of pure silk organza to define the drape. As the fabric gathers, the colour moves between lighter and deeper tones, creating a striking counterpoint to the richness of the border.

Handwoven in Banaras, the vintage Banarasi border carries an elaborate composition of floral and foliate forms in zari. Its defining detail is the meenakari woven into the motifs, where shades of pink and orange emerge selectively through the zari. These touches of colour give the older weave a distinctive vibrancy while retaining the depth and softened character of a vintage textile.

Fine ornamental bands frame the border, while a delicate leaf-like edging defines its inner edge. At the pallu, the workmanship becomes more expansive, opening into a broad field of intricate geometric zari weaving with the colourful meenakari motifs continuing along its edge.
