Details

A vivid royal purple gives Vaijayanti its presence, while the combination of hand embroidery and a vintage Banarasi border brings depth and distinction to the saree. Part of The Heirloom Vault, it brings accomplished workmanship from different traditions together in a saree intended for the present and, eventually, another generation.

Crafted in pure silk organza, the body retains the fabric's characteristic lightness and translucence. Across the purple ground are individually hand-embroidered meenakari bootis, worked with zari and coloured accents. Their placement leaves generous areas of the organza open, allowing the richness of the colour and the delicacy of the fabric to remain visible.

Framing the saree is an elaborate vintage handwoven Banarasi border. Paisleys, floral forms and scrolling vines unfold across the border in sona zari, with meenakari accents introducing subtle notes of colour within the weave. Against the saturated purple, the older zari takes on a warm, softened lustre that gives the border its distinctive character.

The pallu continues the balance between openness and ornamentation, with the embroidered bootis appearing across the sheer organza and the Banarasi border defining its edges. Together, the vintage weave and hand embroidery make Vaijayanti a singular expression of the idea behind The Heirloom Vault: preserving exceptional craftsmanship by returning it to the wardrobe rather than leaving it in the past.

Single piece. No repeats.

Styling Note

Style Vaijayanti with the accompanying brocade blouse for a richly tonal look. Kundan or polki jewellery with coloured stones would complement the meenakari detailing, while a stack of deep green glass bangles introduces a considered contrast against the purple.

Please Note

This is a handmade saree; slight irregularities are inherent to the craft and are part of its individual character.

As the saree incorporates a vintage handwoven border, natural variations in tone, zari and finish may be present and are characteristic of its age and craftsmanship.

Slight colour variation may occur due to differences in studio lighting and screen settings.
