The sky-blue expanse of pure silk is richly adorned with delicate Rudraksh buttis. This motif is considered to be of great significance in Indian culture and traditions. In various mythological scriptures, this motif is referred to as the ‘tears of Lord Shiva'. The sacred Rudraksh beads are believed to express the power of healing. The border, on the other hand, is an alluring expanse of gold zari work showcasing motifs like Kuyilkann and Mayilkann (cuckoo and peacock), along with Annam motifs, which is an Annapakshi motif that resembles a beautiful swan. Using the centuries-old Korvai weaving technique, the Kanchipuram artisans handcraft this saree in two pieces: the body and the border, which are then attached along the warps using the petni method.
