Soft Mauve Handloom Pure Katan Tissue Silk Banarasi Dupatta with Gold Zari and Resham Floral Jaal
Some colours have a way of making traditional craftsmanship feel wonderfully contemporary. This Soft Mauve Handloom Pure Katan Tissue Dupatta is a beautiful example, pairing the gentle warmth of mauve with the richness of gold zari and an elaborate floral jaal. The muted colour palette softens the metallic lustre, giving the dupatta a graceful, understated appeal that feels just as appropriate for intimate celebrations as it does for grand occasions.
Handwoven in the Banaras weaving cluster, the dupatta features an intricate arrangement of blooming flowers, delicate buds and intertwining foliage. Woven in gold zari and light-toned resham, the floral jaal spreads across the tissue ground, creating a beautiful play of texture, colour and sheen. The Cutwork weaving technique brings definition to these motifs through supplementary weft threads, with the unwanted floats carefully trimmed from the reverse after weaving.
A broad gold zari border, detailed with fine geometric patterns, frames the floral composition, while delicate golden tassels complete the edges. The soft mauve undertones become more pronounced along the folds, lending depth to the luminous fabric.
An elegant expression of Banarasi handloom artistry, this dupatta brings together the charm of traditional weaving and the versatility of a contemporary colour palette.
Styling Tip: Pair this dupatta with a deep plum or wine-coloured silk kurta set to bring out its mauve undertones, or style it with an ivory Chanderi ensemble for a softer, coordinated look. Antique gold jewellery and pearl accents will complement the woven detailing beautifully, making it an excellent choice for weddings, festive occasions and family celebrations.

The Weaving Technique
Phekwa is a weaving style from banaras, where the weft yarn is interlaced in the warp from one end to the other creating textures on the surface of the cloth also called the zamin. This can be done with single silk yarn or resham or zari, or both can be wound around shuttles.
This is one of the most widely used banarasi handloom weaving techniques where the motifs are woven together as opposed to kadhwa saress, thus taking lesser time in completing a saree. This weaving style leaves a large proportion of the silk or zari thread at the back of the saree where there is no motif at the front. These threads at the back are then cut, once the saree is complete. Mostly the ladies of the house help in cutting and cleaning this extra float
