Violet Handloom Double Shade Pure Katan Silk Banarasi Fabric With Booti

This vivacious Banarasi Fabric adorned with the double shade hues of courageous Violet and Sapphire blue with cutwork zari motifs, curated by Weaver Story using the most sterling of the Katan Silk filaments, is a wonderful addition to an ethnic buff's closet. Ornaments of violet silhouette go perfectly well with the bright gold zari motifs of four-petaled flowers that look like tiny little butterflies floating around in a wide, calm sky. The aesthetic of the unfussy and clutter-free pattern generates a subtle sense of modernity to the culturally rich hand weaving technology of Cutwork Booti, which involves crafting and designing each and every floral motif separately, with extreme caution and skill, rather than a careless bulk mass production.

Hand loomed using the Banarasi Katan Silk, where a single thread is made by intertwining several authentic silk filaments together, in order to create a stern bond and a dense web of generous royalty. Wear this majestic fabric with some oxidised metal jewellery to be remembered as the fashion diva of your clan!

The Weaving Technique

Phekwa is a weaving style from banaras, where the weft yarn is interlaced in the warp from one end to the other creating textures on the surface of the cloth also called the zamin. This can be done with single silk yarn or resham or zari, or both can be wound around shuttles.
This is one of the most widely used banarasi handloom weaving techniques where the motifs are woven together as opposed to kadhwa saress, thus taking lesser time in completing a saree. This weaving style leaves a large proportion of the silk or zari thread at the back of the saree where there is no motif at the front. These threads at the back are then cut, once the saree is complete. Mostly the ladies of the house help in cutting and cleaning this extra float
