Some love stories are meant to be celebrated with grandeur, joy, and a touch of magic—and Arushi and Anant’s wedding was all that and more.
A Punjabi bride and a groom from Hyderabad, Anant Sonthi, the couple chose to honour both their heritages in a beautiful, cross-cultural celebration that perfectly blended tradition with personal style.
A Twist on Tradition: Arushi’s Unconventional Bridal Look
Arushi’s wedding attire was a tribute to timeless Telugu traditions with a fresh, contemporary spin. Reflecting on her choice, she shares,
“This look was my way of honouring tradition while adding a layer of personal expression. As part of the Telugu wedding rituals, the bride traditionally wears a white saree with a red border—called a madhuparkam. I wanted to respect that custom but reimagine it in a way that felt more me. The classic version is beautifully minimal, so I chose to elevate it with embroidery and richer detailing—something a little more ornate and celebratory—yet keeping the essence intact. It felt like the perfect fusion of tradition and my personal style.”
Crafted by WeaverStory, Arushi’s outfit featured a delicately embroidered tissue fabric saree, a richly detailed blouse, and an exquisite dupatta—all custom-designed to bring her vision to life. Every element, from the choice of material to the finishing touches, was a labour of love, completed over eight weeks to create a piece as timeless as it was personal.
A Fairy Tale Wedding
When asked about their big day, Arushi recalls,
“It was chaotic in the best way. Our friends and family flew in from all over the world, and since it was a cross-cultural wedding, we decided to blend the Punjabi and Telugu rituals into one celebration, which made for some super joyful (and occasionally confusing) moments. From our pheras on a rooftop overlooking the ocean to the mix of music, languages, and traditions, everything came together in a way that felt so us. It was heartfelt, a little messy, and completely perfect.”
The wedding wasn’t just a coming together of two people, but two cultures, two families, and countless memories made under one sky.
The WeaverStory Connection
Arushi first discovered WeaverStory while browsing Instagram, in search of something "timeless and classic."
“What stood out was not just their beautiful pieces, but how open they were to customizing a saree exactly the way I envisioned it. This made the whole experience even more special.”
Working closely with the WeaverStory team, she brought her dream wedding look to life—one that honoured tradition while letting her personal style shine through.
A Saree for Life
Though she hasn’t had the chance to wear her wedding saree again, Arushi is certain it will grace another special occasion soon.
“It’s such a beautiful piece and so wearable that I definitely can, and hope to, wear it again. It deserves more than just one special day.”

Among the many heartfelt compliments she received, one stood out the most:
“You looked like you—the happiest version of yourself.”
