An extension to what we do as a brand, WeaverStory wishes to celebrate the real women in all body shapes, colors or sizes. These women are our heroes and their love for us gives us constant inspiration to create more and that is how we com-memorated ‘My Sarees Saga campaign’ on World Saree Day 2022. This proli c campaign aimed at celebrating the women who proudly wore a saree irrespective of their skin color, body shape or size, thus making it a platform to break all stereotypes of body shaming and standardization of beauty. This national movement encouraged the women to zero down the unrealistic beauty standards while fostering body positivity.

In the times of today where we see extensive social media frenzy, fashion influencers, celebrities and information overload, we are obsessed with how we look. It has become a daily pursuit to gauge ourselves, compare ourselves while feeling disappointed with our aws. We are continuously striving to hide our aws be it our body shape, our skin color, or any other shortcoming we feel that brings us down.

We feel inadequate and try to look picture perfect all the time. Such unrealistic expectations lead to unhealthy way of living, depression, anxiety and extreme mood swings. This is a sad state of the world and WeaverStory wants to bring a change, expand our mindset and help us in how we see ourselves and how we feel about ourselves. Its truly about celebrating womanhood in all sizes and contours. It’s about accepting, loving and embracing ourselves.

This strong initiative by WeaverStory, reached millions of hearts in no time and we receive stories from real women till date.

Skinny. Chubby. Curvy. Short. Tall. Fair. Dark. The list of labels is endless, but the endurance of a Saree is timeless. Rather, it has a uid nesse to it that embodies us whenever we wear it.

We saw a healthy participation from a few passionate women who didn’t shy away from coming forth and elating us with their stories. Mrs Aparna Sharma, a senior Retail and Commercial banking professional, shared on how she was a constant bystander to sarees since her childhood and how her fascination towards the yard evoked. Ritu Dhingra, while sharing her anecdotes with us, explained how a saree completed her. ‘Grace is a look in the same way a saree graces you. Love Your-self !’ Is what she said.

For Mrs Stutee Premi, VP at Asia Healthcare Hold-ings, a Banarasi saree re ected elegance and beauty in its own right.

Age and body shape de es the concept of sares and Stutee wished to pass these heirlooms to her daughters for them to cherish forever. Another participant, Simmi Gupta, a seasoned photogra-pher, already knew how to see beauty in every little detail and captured it perfectly through her lenses. She founded her con dante in a Kanjivaram saree and felt complete when she wore it. Lastly, Ms Shweta Sawhney, a realty entrepreneur, claimed a saree to be adaptive and uid just like a women’s character. It adapts to our body shape and yet adds poise to our demeanour.

These were some interesting tales from our saree connoisseurs. Saree represents pride, self assurance and an a ection for the past. This campaign successfully unraveled a woman’s inner thoughts and her perception towards how she sees herself and her connection to the six yard. It enlightened us to her concepts of self acceptance, power dressing, and how a saree courageously embraces her with so much warmth and elegance

WeaverStory extends a heartfelt appreciation to all the courageous women for being a part of our campaign and making it a success.

We would love to hear from you as well and continue this national movement for promoting body positivity and nullifying all shackles of unrealistic beauty standards….
